A FAMILY SCANDAL.
THE SONS BOUND OVER TO KEEP

Dunedin, This day,
At tho City Court two sons (wellkncwn in sporting circles as riders and owners of trotters) and a daughter of William Taggart, tho well-known livery stable keeper, were charged by him with assault and threatening to murder him on the evening of Friday. Tho defendants went to the father's house, smashing the windows, striking him, and threatening to murder him. One of the boys threatened him, and he himself afterwards denied having given the family any provocation. It transpired that the children had taken offence at the father's behavior with a woman who ho hud fcinco married. Tho house in which the quarrel t ok place partly belonged to tho sons Tho complainant, iv cross-examination, said bo did not fear his sons, as they were not manly enough to do him any mischief. Defendants, who denied ever striking complainant, said their action was taken to put an end to the scandal which was known all over the town, and nuce tho parties were married they wished them success. The Bench first ordered tho defendants to find sureties of £50 each, but hubsequently reduced the amount to £10.
