Maeton, This day. Ycstorday the Hon J. Bryce inserted a letter in the Marton Mercury requesting the &ditor to apologise for what appeared in the paper a day or two ago. On Wednesday the eon of the Hun. John Brycb bought tho gwodwili of a perpetual leaie section, and the Mercury two dayn after haa asub-leader in which it was implied that the purchase was made by Mr Bryce himself, and certain editorial strictures were passed ou his action. Jn reply to Mr Bryce, the editor says he implied no crime nor offence, and refuses to make further ameuds.
