CHICAGO EXHIBITION.
Wellington, This day
The Government have not appointed any Commissioner for the Chicago Kxhibition ; in fact, there is a hitch about the representation of the colony. Some of the committee want the Government to buy the exhibits outiight, which the Minister for Public Works flatly refuses to do. If a majority of tho committee take this live he will probably throw matters up altogether, but if satisfactory arrangements are made he proposes to aisk parliament to vote £5000.
