'The cup matoh between tho Napier and United Clubs, commenced ou Saturday, Jauuary UOth, was concluded on the Hecreutiou Ground on Saturday last. Ibe United had 3 wickets down for 16, with GO runs to •rut with 7 wickets to fall, and they succeeded iv winning tho inatjh by 4 wickets j and 4 rune. The totals are as follows:—j Napier G7 and 59, G. White 45, H. Martin 16 FanuiulT. Uuited r>l aud 70, A. Kens 17' and 14, Ludbrook 21, Peacock 11. Wolstenholine, Fanniu, and Edwards were entrusted with the bowling for Napier. The match Gough Island v. Spit, played atFarndon on Saturday resulted in a win for the latter by six wickets. The Goughs in their first innings made 31, of whicn i±. BußSoll compiled 11; there woro five •" ducks " Their second effort proved more successful and cloved for 06, with only three " o's." W. Chapman 26, C. Chapman 32 were the top scorers this time. The Spit in their first innings put together a total of / 0, and in tho eeoor.d had four wickets down for 50 Wyllie 28 and 14, Hiudniareh 23, heading the liot. For the Spit team .Kobiolms, Cato, Wyllie, and Mheon handled the ball, while the bowling for the Gough Island was done by Chapman, Gardiner Heron, and Williams. The match proved most enjoyable, and as a good wicket was provided, those who took part spent a very pleasant afternoon The Bands of Hope eleven met the United oeeond on the Recreation Ground on Saturday when the former won on the first inning by 18 runs. United made 33, none of the pliers reaching double figures, and Otowley "wae tho highest scorer with 0 The Bande of Hope followed with ■ti P Aehcroft 11, Parton 13. For ihe latter Parton got 5 wickets for 16 runs, and Dempsey 5 for 14. Nioholls for the United took 5 wickets for 22, Davis 1 8, and Blakeley 4 for 28 runs.
