Some very fine trout have been caught in the Mana-.vatu river of late, near Kumeroa, weighing up to seven pounds, and anglers are consequently satisfied with their sport.

Tho Ormondville School Committee on Tuesday evening voted for Messrs Ormond, Ooheu, and Gilberd for the Education Board seats Mr Edwards and Captain Kussell rect'iviug two votes each.

Mr H. M. Boucher, agent for Hayes's circus, has arrived in Napier for the purpose of making arrangements for the company's appearance here next Friday evening, the 10th instant. The circus arrived recently at Auckland from Sydney, and after playing a season at the northern town, have been appearing on the west coast. They open at Palmerstou to-morrow night, Waipukurau next Wednesday, and Hastings nest Thursday. The company comprises twenty artists, with fourteen performing horses, and a good band of inusiual performers.

Before leaving for Invercargill by the express train to-day Mr S. F. Whituombe was presented with a handsome gold albert and diamond locket by the railway employes. Mr T. W.
