At the Presbyterian Assembly a prolonged debate took place on the report re the t.aining of students, strong objection beiii"" taken to the recommendations from the 'bhriHtohureh Presbytery that greater prominence be given to the employment of lay missionaries. No decision could be arrived at, and the report was eventually shelved by a motion that it be received. Dissatisfaction wai expressed that a larger number of ministers did not take advantage of the Widows' and Orphans' and tho Aged and Infirm Ministers' Funds, and a resolution was passed instructing the committee to consider the desirability of incorporating both funds.
