The Fire Brigade hold a good useful practice last night. A general meeting was held after the practice. Correspondence was received from the Association relative to tho annual meeting of the Conference at Dunedin and competition. The concert at Waipukurau last night was a success, the hall being crowded Ihe train was well patronised by visitors to the concert A number of Waipawa residents went over by traps and on horseback. Tho Hawke's Bay Rabbit Board met at Waipukurau yesterday, Messrs Crosse (chairman), Watcrhouse, Shrimpton, McHardy, Pauley, and Lyons being present -- Sessrs Gaisford, R. H and M. Mason and Campbell, agreed, by letter, to contribute towards the o_pense of clearing rabbits from To Ante native blocks.-Mr Cornford forwarded opinion as to legal remedy J-Hinst natives.-The 01.au.nan was authorised to deal with the question of extermination of rabbits on Te Ante block - An offer of four coils fencing wire, at 30s per cwt, from the Loan and Mercantile Company was declined.-Mr Black was appointed returning officer at a salary or -PlO 10s per annum.—The Inspectors reports were then read aud considered On the motion of the Chairman, Inspector Quartly was requested to give his reasons for not reporting rabbits on the Gwayas property -Inspector M*Phersou reported that the gate at Waimata had been propped open, so that it could not close itself, and strong suspicions pointed to the probable ■culprit The Inspector was requested to -collect evidence and report to the «mirman immediately.—The motion to hold the Board's meetings in Napier for the future was withdrawn.-The pay-sheet waspassed. —Notice of motion was given to levy a rate ot id on sheep and gd on cattle.-Inspector ■Quartly's application for an increase of .salary was refused.
