The plans for the waterworks are now ready, and willl suppose, be submitted to the Council on Thursday. The principal feature is, of course, the tank, which is to be of concrete. Its capacity will be 13,700 gallons, 20 feet in length, 10ft, wide, and lift 6 inches high. The water line is lift. It will be sunk 6ft below the surface, leaving sft above ground. The water cart is of an improved kind, the reservoir being below the Your readers are reminded of the preliminary canter at the Farmers' Association to-night. The banquet of local productions to be held about the 20th is growing to large proportions, and will most likely _be held at the Town Hall. Extensive invitations will be made at Napier, and the press will be specially invited. _ The following gentlemen were nominated to-day for the Hastings Borough Council :- Dr. Linney, and Messrs R. Wellwood, G. Land, W. J. Tyerman, and T. Foreman. iMr J. H. Williams declined nomination. The poll will take place on September 10th.
