For any engagement of a hackney carriage outside the boundaries of the borough the time for the return to the nearest cabstand shall be allowed at the same rates 8,8 mentioned above. (4.) A special engagement shall mean an engagement of a hackney carnage at any time prior to the time for which such hackney carriage is required or an engagement of a hackney carriage by the hour. (5.) Between the hours of 9 p.m. and midnight the fares chargeable shali be fare and a half, and from midnight until 6 a.m. the fares chargeable shall be douMe fares ; sm:h additional fares as aforesaid shall be calculated on the ordinary fares as hereinbefore specified and shall also apply to special engagements. In the case of onehortw carriages, the words " ordinary fares" tthall mean the fares for one-horse carriages as specified in the above schedule save and except the fares specified in section (ii) of subdivision (a) of clause 4.
