The names of the men drowned at Walhalla are Whitelaw (surveyor) and Gordon (his assistant). The men who perished in the landslip were two miners named Lemm and Mohr.

All the mines are flooded out, and damage has been done to the extent of thousands of pounds. There is a great flood in the Werribee river, and two men named Biggs and McLennan have been drowned.

Nearly five inches of rain fell in tho Ballarat district in thirty-six hours.
