A incetiug of the newly gazetted Danevirke Domain Board was h>ld last evening. Present—Messrs Wratt, Miller, Elmbrouch, and Mackay. Mr Mackay was appointed chairman, aid Mr Elmbrouch secretary, ana" Mr Miller treasurer. Correspondence from Mr Clayton, claiming ISs Od for advertising in 1888, and from Mr Illingworth, offering the lease of the front part of the domain for a horse paddock, was ordored to stand over. The meeting then adjourned for a fortnittht.
About twenty riders turned up for the paper chase on Wednet-d-y, when there was an hour's run over some stiff country. A few could not negotiate the fences atfvdt, but all finished in good style. There was no reckless riding
The Library Committee is ge-",_ng up a. concert in aid of funds. It bjs been docided to deal with the Napi_r booksellers only. The secretary's repr 't shows that satisfactory progress has boe'n made.
Mr McKerrow, one of the Railway Commissioners, with Mr "TVhitoome, district railway manager, vi.ited Danevirke on Wednesday. They inspected the mean's of access to the station, t Mr McKerrow weut m this morning by tr*.iu to Wellington.
