Wellesley road, Munro, and Hastings streets, wherever, indeed, there is a clear opening to the swamp, and to tbe hills the strnch rises. We have all along opposed the proposal to divert the Tutaekuri river so as to run a fresh stream of water through the lagoon, aud we are still inclined to doubt whether it would answer expectations. But, considering the circumstances of the case, the experiment had better be made, and that without delay. At all events, as no other scheme has been put forward, we must presume it is regarded as the only one likely to succeed.
