ALLEGED DUMMYISM.
Wbluxqton, This day.
Tho alleged case of durainyi _n in connection with tho Malum and Puketoi blocks, near Pahiatua, was again before the Laud Board to-day. The Minister of Lands wrote stating Mr Coleman Phillips was under a misconception as to tho date of the interview ho had on the subject of taking up tho land, and also as to what took place thereat. The solicitor for tho lady selectors again appeared before the Board und admitted hia clients had broken the conditions of leaso aud were willing to forfeit it, but if the time were extended they would comply with tho conditions and retain the lease. Tho ladies attended the meeting, and stated they never read the declaration before signing it. Tho first instalment of thu rent had not bc_n paid, and the improvements required for tho first year had not been effected. Other selectors gave evidence to tho same effect, stating if the Board allowed they would take up tho leases aud comply with tho requirements of the Act. Tho solicitor, addressing the Board, said tho leases could be cancelled for breach of conditions, but he did not think the Board need go any further in the mutter. Tho Beard adjourned till 2.15 p.m.
