The Union Rowing Club held a meeting at tho Provincial Hotel last evening. Mr. T. Morrison occupied the chair. For the trial fours the following crews were selected to go into training :—A. Fulford (stroke), Frame (3), H. Stubbs (2), D. Hendry (bow); C. Young (stroke), J. Magill (3j, J. B. Franklin (2), Newman (bow); W. Hands (stroke), MoSborry (3), Howe (2), Simpson (bow) ; Goldfinch (stroke), Maloon (3), Co well (2), Heron (bow); D Shanaghan (stroke), Collingo (3), Simmonds (2), T. Wrifriitson (bow) ; E. Forrest (stroke), Corbett (3), G. Wri«htson (2), Brophy (bow); T. Morrison (stroke), J. Morrison (3), Anderson (2), H. Swan (bow); W. Johnstone (stroke), R. Young (3), C. O'Donoghue (2), Dalton (bow).
At St. Andrew's Caledonian Society's gathering, Oamaro, tho championship prize for piping was won by Mr. D. Campbell, of the South Island. Tho dancing championship for adults was taken by Mr. W. P. Stuart, of Napier. Tho juvenile championship for Highland dancing was won by Master Campbell Smith, son of Mr, R. Smith, of tho Masonic Hotel. The Hammer and Stone championship fell to Mr. J. McHardy, a relative of the president of the Hawko's Bay Caledonian Bociety.
