RACING CALENDAB. December 26, Manawatu B.C. spring meeting. December 31, Ormondville, Norsewood, and Makotukn Racing Olub. December 20 and January 1 and 2, Auckland Racing Club's summer meeting. January 1, Napier Park Racing Club'e summer meeting. January 22 and 24, Wellington R.O. summer meeting. January 31, Canterbury Jockey Club's summer meeting. December 16, Ormondville, Norsewood, and Makotuku Racing Club. December 27, Napier Park Racing Club's summer meeting. January 10, Egmont Racing Club's summer meeting. NOSIETATIOKS, AOCEPTANOKS, &0. December 20, nominations Ecrmont Racine , Club. December 23, acceptances and general ontrios Ormondvillo, Norsewood, and Makotuku R.C. January 24, nominations and acceptances Egrnont Racing , Club. February 20. nominations Napier Cup, Flying Handicap, City Stakea. and Waverlcy Stakes, Napier Park Racing , Club.

I would remind owners that on Saturdaynext, 20th December, the following nominations art? duo for the Egmont Racing , Club: First and Second Hurdle Race, Egmont Handicap of 300 sovh, Waimato Handicap f*f 150 guvs, Hawera Welter Handicap, Flying Handicap, and Normanby Stakes. The meeting takes place on Wednesday and Thursday, 18th and 19th February. The Ormondville, Norsewood, and Makotoku Racing Club have received very good nominations for their races, and if thu day is fine, they should have a very good meeting , .

Tno weights for the Hawke's Bay Boxing Day meeting have been declared. I will give my selections for the different events, but, of course will wait for the acceptances beforo finally doing so. For the Welter I like Pursestring , and Pizzaro best. For the Hurdles I should take Tauraekaitai. F&r the summer Handicap there are fourteen. "Whisper, of course, heads the list, and with Bst 121b ie very well treated, and should, if at her beat, win. Strephon has gone to Auckland. Cynisea (Sst 91b) has never proved herself to be within 31bs of her stable companion Whisper. Jet d'Eau (fist Gib), if he would only take it into his head to do his best and go as he sometimes will on the training track, would have a show, but he i.« an uncertain horso, and will seldom try. Kotuku (Bat Sib) is a fast mara when really well, but only a small one and every pound over S stone tells on her, and at the weights Whisper should hold her safe. Lenore (Bst 41b) would want another stone off her baok to have a show with her stable mates, Whisper or Cynisoa. Aronoel (7st 13st) is made to meot Whisper on 71bs worse terms than at w.f .a. scale. This on pact performances is not right, and looks bad on paper. Katinka (7st 111b), should, if all right, beat moro than will beat her, but I doubt her ability to beat the top weights. Seraph (7st 7ib) we have not seen out since shi raji as a two-year-old, and therefore, it is hard to say how she has improved, but I don't see why she should be asked to givo Lullaby and Legacy weight. Kiokio (7st 4lb) ran a good mare at the Napier Park, when she won the Telephone Handicap, 1 mile, with Bst 2lb up, in Imin 48secs. She is a tour-year-old by Lord of the Isles—Toe. She has aot yet met Srat-class company, and it remains to be seen how she will shape when she does. I think she has an outside show. Lullaby (7et) is a fast mare if she would only try, but she is an Apromont, and they are seldom to be trusted. Kapo (Oet 121b) has gone to Auokl&nd. Legacy (Cst 7lb) has not as yet shown much form. Her best performance wae at the Park in the Aburiri Handicap, onoo round, when, with Cat 12lb, she ran second to Swivel (7st 71b) and beat seven others ; time, 2min 1 3-sth sec. Maid of Lome (6st alb) has not yet chown much form. My pick at present is Whisper. For the Trial Handicap I like Kupensja or Kiokie. Tho Two-year-old Handicap looks a good thing for Hakimana. He has only started once, when not nearly fit, which was in the Juvenile Handicap at the Napier Park, which was won by Rosefeldt (Bst 9lb), Hakimana being v Rood second with (7st 71b), Cretonne (Bst 61b) third, Thame {7at 71b) last. Hakimana ran in this race badly, but made up his lost ground in good stylo and finished gamely. Hβ should win. Tho acceptances for the Auckland Cup and Steeplechase are better than I expected. The Cup is worth 600 soys, with a sweep of 10 soya for starters, to be paid half-an-hour boforo tho raco. Tho acceptance was only 3 soys. I expect several will not pay up the swnep. Out of o7 nominated 15 have accopted, and for tho Steeplechase 10 have accepted out of 27 nominated. For the Derby 7 havo so far paid up. I expected to see Orackshot, Medallion, St. Andrew, and j Leolantis pay up, but I did not oxpeot to see tho others. To sco Kapo's namo figuriug in the Derby, Cup, and Auckland Plato was tho greatest surprise of all to mo. Ho is ii horeo that with Get 4lb could not win the October Stakes at *k, Jast Napier Park meeting, and wa«( aol oven able to get a place hi it. ,ij was actually last, and now he is consiuiored good enough to compete at even . weights with Crackshot, Medallion, St. Andrew, and other good horses. I ,-Kriow he lias improved since tho spring meeting, but to bo on a par with these cracks lie must havo improved in a miraculous manner. Fred Carringtoa, who went with St. Andrew to Ohristehurch and Duncdin, returned this far with the colt, when Andy Robinson went on with him to Auckland, Carriupftou remaining; here to look after the rest of the stable during the Boxing Day mid Now Year's Day meetings. St Androw, I am informed, improved * lot between tho Ghiistuhnruh and Dunedin inoetiuge, and appears to be still improving Mid bettor able to stay. Tho Auckland Dorby should be an interesting raeo botween tho three that met in tile Christchurch. Botli Urackshot v.nd St. Andrew will run better horses, and Medallion will havo all his work cut out again to defoat these two. From tho largo number of nominations received, the Axoklapd Club ehould havo a very successful meeting.
