A compamson between tho old and the new House of Representatives is interesting. Tho old one consistedof ninoty-fivemembers, the new onecontainssoventy-four. Twentytv/o of tho old members declined to again offer themselves for re-election. They were Sir George Grey, Hon. E. Richardson, Messrs Anderson, Cowan, Dodson, Fitzherbert, Fitohott, I ulton, Hobbg, Loughrey, Marchant, Moat, Moss, Ormond, Peacock, I). Steward, Samuel, S. Mentoath, Tanner, Veriall, Wbyte, Withy. Two of the old members, Messrs Jones and Taiwhanga, have died, and twenty-five havo been defeated. They were Sir M. O'Rorke, Hon. T. Fiislop, Messrs Allen, Arthur, Brown, Bruce, Buxton, Feldwick, Frftser, Grirnmond, Hodgkinson, Humphreys, Izard, Kerr, Lance, Lnrnach, McGregor, Monk, I'yko, Reeves (R.), Ross, Seymour, Walker. Tho now House will contain forty-nix of tho old members and twenty-seven new ones Tho seat for tho Northern Maori district is vacant.
