One of tho wagers taken on the night before the Melbourne Cup about Highborn, who finished second to Carbine, w&s 9000 to 90. The Admiral's teeth gave his trainer so much trouble that the colt had to bo hand fed, and it ;-■ y-it. I that eneh meal was washed down with bottled beer.
