Tho Union Company's s.s. Southern Cross, Captain Black, arrived from northern ports at 11 a.m. yesterday, and left again for Wellington at 11 this morning. The Ur-ion Company's s.s. Australia steamed for northern ports at fi p.m. on Saturday. The cutter Venus, from Gisborne, arrived alongside the breastwork about midday yesterday. . The s.s Te Kapu arrived from Wairoa yesterday afternoon, and returns to that place to-night. The Union Company's s.s. Manapouri, Captain Logan, arrived from southern ports at 3 p.m. yesterday. The Ahuriri tendered her on arrival, and took off tho outward passengers at 8.30 p.m., but owing to having to discharge a large cargo sho did not get away for the north till midnight. Tho schooner Dunedin, Captain Hansen, sailed for Timaru this morning. She took a part load of timber. The s.s. Munaia did the trip to Wellington in thirty-six hours, which is a very good performance for so small a vessel. The N.Z. Mapping Company's R M 8. Rimutaka. Captain Greenstreet, arrived from Lyttelton at 7 p.m. yesterday. She comes here to load frozen meat, from Nelson Eros.' works, ami the Fanny has been busy all day running tho ment off to her. The Rimutaka is to leave for Wellington on Wednesday. Captain Greenstreet has with him as officers :—Mr J. W. Crouchor who is now chief officer, having- been promoted from second ;Mr T. S. Weston is second officer, having been promoted from third ; Mr E. Kenneway (lato fourth orlicer of the Ruapehu) is third, and V. C. WhiteParsons fourth. Mr C. Deanc is still pur«er. Mr J. M. Dallas is chief engineer, W. H. Pitcher second, and J Stuart third. The schooners Fieetwing and Norval are to leave Wanganui early this week with cargoes of coals for Messrs Cranby and Prebblo. The schooner Lily is loading at Oamaru for Napier, while the ketch Comet will load at Duucdii; for this port. The Tckupo arrived at Sydney from Wellington yesterday. The Outlines, schooner, arrived at Auckland from Napier on Saturday. Tho Peerless arrived at Koipara from Sydney on Saturday. Tbo Wave Queen arrived at Lyttelton from London yesterday.
