I would remind owners that tho accoptances and general entries for the Wellington Racing Club's snring meeting close on Monday next, 17th November. I am glad to say that Ruxtablo, who got _urt through a fall from Raven at the last Napier Park races, has nearly recovered irom his fall. About a. fortnight ago he was sent for a change to the Wellington Hospital, and last Thursday be returned to Hastings, where ho i* now- staying. It will still bo some timo before ho is quite himself again. „ „ , „ It is not often we hear of four horses all the progeny of ono mare starting at a race meeting, and all scoring wins, yet this was the cane at the la.it Canterbury meeting. Four sons and daughters of Wave ran, and ■oil won as follows-.—May, 2yrs, JulyWave, won Spring Nursery Stakes; Diadem, 3yrs, Bundoora— Wave, won Oaks - Peers wick, 4yrs, Rundoora—Wave, won Criterion; Riibv, aged, AlbanyWave won Consolation. They were all orod and raced by Mr W. C Webb. Wave is by Matron—Spray, by Donizetti-Lady Ann, by Whisker. Tho running of Crriekslmt, in the VAA. "Cup. Dorbv, and Canterbury Cup, nnd the improved form he showed in tho last rue-' to what he did in tbo two former, was much •commuted upon here, but from Hiose who -were there, and saw what took place, the •alteration of perform ■mens was easily explained, for it seems the c.lt 1 ,-n trot a habit of striking himself on the inside oi the knee. -which causes him for the tun- to iro lame ■for a while after he strikes tn-> leg. llns it seems, hardened both in tbe Cup and Derby, and after the Utter rue., tho colt's knee was Moodiiijr. In the third he was .run in a band.nre over th- srj.-o km>e. and -thus escaped hurting himself and ran a good

horse. Several visitors who went from here to thoC J.C. meetiuir have returned, most of •them with li-btcr poe.keK Two of our Hastings sports, one a Rnnrlit ot the Bar, and the other a Knhrht of the Cleaver, visited the Lancaster Park trc.ti!n_ moctimr. and hehig strangers, knew nothing of the horses, aud went on hi'k. In tho Handicap Pony Trot, they spotted a horse on the card by tho name of rnrndalo, aiid for the sake of the namo decided to buck nun. The Kniirlit of the Bar was entrusted with the 'commission to invest in the ma-hitm. but just as he was in the act of asking for the ticket, a knowing friend {';) asked what lie •was going on, and on beitur informed it was Taradalo, bo gave a sly wink and the information that it was not to bo his day out, tbat he was not on the job, nnd advised him to back the stable companion, and thinking tho informal on correct, he did so, to his sorrow, for Taradale walked in and paid a dividend of £51 6s, and in future lie will not bo so ready to take tho advioe of a disinterested friond on- a race day. Of our horses I think Aronoel aud Kotukn •will most likely como homo. Bob Gooso- _,„, with Whisper, Cynisca, and Lenoro, ■will stay for tho Wellington races. Strophon -will also most likely stay there. Percy Martin, with his team, is expected back this day week. Tho conference of delegates from the Metropolitan Clubs tbat met at CfcristChurch did nothing at their meeting, which was further adjourned to when tho House of Ropresentativosnext meets at Wellmirton. The weights for the Dunedin aud Wellington spring meetings have been declared. For WoUiuittou. if Cheque was ns well as I Lave seen him, I would b.ick hira for whatever he star ed, Goosjman is always lucky _t Wellington, and wo may make suro of Lis winning there if ho has bad hick in other places, for Wellington is always a " Tom Tiddler'a" ground to him. Carbine's winnings up to tho present timo must come to over £20,000, which is tho largest sum in stakes won by any horso this side of the lino.
