A Wan/anui resident, who is at. present in Wellington, writes us follows :—" We heard a good deal in Wanganui about the xt'ite of Wellington owinyr to the strike, but f can assure you that it baa been under, rather than over, stated. I never saw a place in Ruch a deplorable condition. There appears to be no business doing- at all, and there are ntill hundreds of muu walking the street*."
