Ouk cablegram tho other day mentioned a report that the Popo desired to confer with Messrs Dillon and O'Brien. Wo thought it strange that His Holiness wanted to confer wirh a couple of runaways. A cablegram to-day puts thematter right. Dillon and O'Brien wanted to see tho Pope, but His Holiness declined to receive them. Dr. O'Dwyer. the Bishop o£ Limerick, is the only Irish Prelate who has faithfully carried out tho decrees of the Vatican by denouncing Dillon as the man deserved. For this tho Bishop has received the acknowledgements of tho Pope, so it was not likely Dillon would bo listened to at Rome
