ATHLETICS.

One of the rules of tho Napior Amateur Athlotio Club states that no person is allowed to accompany a competitor in a race. On Saturday the winner of tho hurdlo race was accompanied by an outeider, who ran tho distance with tho competitor. Was uot that a clear case of disqualification for the winner ?

After we went to press on Saturday afternoon the following events wore decided at the eporte gathering of tho Napier Amateur Athletic Club :— Ladies' Bracolot. 440 yds.— J. A. Miller f22yds, nominator Misa Miller), 1 ; E. Cowan (lSyds). 2; G. Elliott (10yds), 3. B. E. Kennedy (scratch), J. I. Cato (scratch), A. C. Norris (10yds), R. TV. Percy (12yds), A. A. Kennedy (12yds), H. H. Knight (15yds), H. Crowley (18yds), A. Jarman (20yds), J. H. Swan (25yds), W. Rudman (30yds), G. flhaw (30yds), W. Davies (30yds), and J. G. Hughes (35yds), also ran. Knight oame in first, but a protest was entered against him for running inside a peg. Tho protest was sustained. Time, 53sec. High Jump.-—C. Bennett (lin), 1; A. Elbourne (scratch), 2; J. A.
