The Wild West Show.

Laat is-ighttbe huge four-pole tent erected in Mr Vantier'e paddock in Dalton street for Wirth'd Circne and Wild Wait Show was crowded to excesa, there; being probably him two thotmnd t/> two tbonsand fire h nndred pwaotw prment. The view of emh a crowd and« canvas -wtm in itself a sight. woil worth tb« vritnemtig. The. programme commeaosl with the rami! raarch roand' of ail the company, and the varied enstnmes of clown*, eiretia performer*, Indiana, ■ Cowboys, &o. t presented a pietore which pteaaed many especially the dtuky members of the audience. Then followed some wonderful feat* on a bareback horse by Mica Mamies Wirtb, while Mise E. Wirth, in the other nig, went through the usual hoop performance. The former threw balls about kept knives flying, and generally gave an exhibition of juggling lhat would have merited applause if shown on the floor so was therefore all the more noticeable on horseback. Mr P. Wirth and hia two boys gave an acrobatic performance, while the Woodward Brothers were busy tumbling in the other ring. The little Wirths are wonderfully clever, and the same may be aaid of the adults. Then the trick horses showed their training, while on the track a horizontal bar was in full awing, some of the feats on the bars boing excellent. There was pony racing, wire walkinir with the pigeons, a lady on horseback with her head hanging down went through burninghoope, while the clowns in all sorts of postures, positions, and places kept your attention distracted from the rings. Then MrGue St. Leon and a lady went through a daring performance, the lady standing erect on hisshoulders while the horse careered round at a fast pace, and in both rings riders jumped on horses without the use of their hands Other items were given, but so much was done in a short time that it was impossible to note everything. The second part opened with the hippodrome races. These wero as diversified as where a Metropolitan Club—say Taranaki—have to epia out something like a couple of hundred pounds over eight events so that the totalisator may pan out enough to pay for the stakes. There were pony races, hurdle races, chariot race, clown races, Indian races, ladies' races, *nd as ruining inside or outside the traok did not make much, difference the fun was fast and furious The Wild West followed. A dance by the Cowboys and their ladies was succeeded by some wonderful lassooing, which evoked great astonishment. Horses were tied up and men secured in » style which was altogether strange to the audience. Then while horses were travelling at the rate of ten or twelve miles to the hour, handkerchiefs, ends of small ropee, and hats wore picked up by the Cowboys without stepping. Then we had an attack on the immigrants' train, the attack on the Deadwood coach, and a race for a bride, in all of which the Indians led tho attack, only to get repulsed, so that villainy might be vanquished and virtue be victorious. A horse thief was lynched and rescned in approved fashion, and the noise of the cracking of gnus and pistols seemed to atford delight, though this part of the performance was not equal to the others that preceded it. A concert for which an additional charge of one shilling was mado followed, and a minetrel entertainment was given. There was some neat dancing, but to sing in such a huge tent was a more difficult feat thaa any that had gone before. This afternoon there was another performance for the bonofitof theyoung people-, and to-night the last entertainment will be. given for at its close the company leave for Woodville.
