The Premier vii Saturday evening received a telegram from Sir Robert Stout that tho Conciliation Committee at Dunedin had failed entirely to bring about a settlement of the labor difficulty, and urging Sir Harry Atkinson to attempt mediation. The Government have all along been of the opinion that the time had not arrived for their interference. The Royal Commission to enquire into the working of tho Grey Valley coalmine- and to consider tho advisability of reducing the royalty charged by the Gov.-rnmeiit. will probably consist of Dr Hector and Messrs William Brown accountant. Dunedin, and R. W. Moody, mining expert, Auckland.
