TREMENDOUS CROWD PRESENT. THE STEAMER ANCHORS IN THE S IRE AM. NO DISTURBANCE. The arrival of the Wairarapa from Lyttelton was awaited anxiously, and ou the signal running up at noon a largo crowd assembled at the wharf. As the vessel steamed up the harbor it is estimated that I_|. to 15(H) people were present, among whom were the acting-Premier, the Defouee Minister, and a number of members of the Legislature A posse of police were present under Inspector Thompson. When the vessel was within half-a-mile of the wharf instructions were sent to the captain to anchor in the harbor, which wan d<s_e, and the crowd quietly dispersed. The steamer will come alongt-ide when a barricade on the wharf it erected, probably about 'A o'clock.
