GREYMOUTH COAL DIFFICULTY.
Wellington*, This day. In reply to tho representations of Messrs Looms and Nowton, tho Government have offered to appoint a Commission to enquire into all tho cirotimstances connected with tho Greymouth coal difficulty. Tho delegates said th jy had no objection, but the Commission must not interfere with the tr.mers' wages. Tho Premier sent a further reply pointing out that he had no intention to meddle with wages, whioh was a question between the employers and men, but the Commission would certainly have to take cognizance of tbe matter, because the wages really lay lit the root of the whole difficulty. No answer has been received from the delegates, but it is probable, the Commission will bo appointed in any case, as tho dispute is regarded its seriously affecting the harbor, on which so much money has been spent.
