A meeting of the Rugby Union was held, at the Criterion Hotel yesterday, _ Mr T. | Sidoy occupying the chair. Considtrablo discussion ciiMicd in reference to the Ginbornc fixture. Jinny delegates wero of opinion that tht; representative match mhould bo played on Friday next, and it it were further delayed the fixture (;>>u!d not bo decided this season. Tho departure of the Southern Cross from here to-morrow would suit thneura. It was also pointed out as the visiting team, Hawke's Bay had thu right of the choice of di.tc, nnd if disborne, in refusing to concede this right, lost the match this season, the responsibility would rest with themselves. A motion that the team po to-morrow whs curried, moved by Mr Morrison aud seconded by Mr Crowley. Mr Hoben moved a contrary motion, which found no seconder. The secretary declined to have anything to do with the | moots for the team's visit, and Mr Harden wits appointed to make all arrangements in connection with tho trip.—lt was decided that the Napier aod Te Aute third fifteens should meet at Fnrndon, and tht; Ahuriri and Taradalp third fifteen should meet at Taradalu on Saturday.—The Marlborough match will not he played till September.
