Wellington, This day,
last NiGrrr's count-out.
Tho question of privilege in connection with last night's count-out is to be brought before tho House this afternoon by Si* Georgo Grey. It seems that when several members were locked in tho Ministerial whips' room on the division bell being rung for a quorum, all dropped to the situation, but Mr Hobbs, who out up very roughly, and after making frantic efforts to force the door, succeeded iv escaping through the window, notwithstanding that a troublesome Otago representative clung to his legs for a time. I havo just learned that Sir Georgo Grey's motion will take the following form:—■*• That in consequence of the proceedings which took place last night, the business set down upon yesterday's Order Paper shall be taken this day, and that to-day's business be taken tomorrow or Monday." If this is not agreed to Sir George will probably demand an enquiry into tho cause of tho count-out. HUTCHISON COMMITTEE. At a mooting of th. Hutchison Charges Committee to-day, the question as to whether the press representatives should bo admitted to tho Committee's proceedings was, on the Speaker's recommendation, referred to tho House. Tho Hutchison Committee, by a majority of one, decided that the Bank of Now Zealand books must bo produced unconditionally . Mr. Bryce, who got up off a bed of sickness, having been summoned in hot haste, arrived just too late to vote on the question, otherwise the matter would probably have been decided by the Chairman's (Mr. Withy) casting vote. Messrs. Seddon, Fitohett, Laruach, and Ballanco voted for __o unconditional production, and Sir John Hall, Mr. Macarthur, and ___-. Orraoud against it. P.W. STATEMENT AND ESTIMATES. The Publio Works Statement received it finishing touches at tho hands of tho Cabinet this forenoon, and will be laid on the table this afternoon, but tho Estimates will not be circulated to-night. At present (2 p.m.) both documents aro in tho printers' hands.
