At a meeting of tho Hutchison Chnrgoe Committee to-day, tho Bank of Now Zealand offered to lot their bpoks bo inspected to long as they were retained in the custody of the officer of tho institution, but exception was taken to tho propositi by Mr Hutchison, and the Committee adjourned without any decision being coma to. CAPTAIN RUSSELL IN HOT WATEB. A storm w threatening when tho Honsu meets. Samuel Mahouey, contractor, Wellington, claimed £500 for preparing Jjlans for the Government for a building in Dunedin. The matter "was referred to the Petitions Cummittee (M. to Z.), who called for tho papers in possession of tho Government, but my informant tells me that tho Colonial Secretary took an unusual stand by refusing to produce them. This alleged discourtesy on Captain Russell's part is to brought up in the Houso by Mr T. Thompson, chairman of the Committee.
A very ohoap line of heavy cloth mantles and jackets; also, heavy tweed ulsters for ladies and children, last year's shapes offered at half-cost to clear. Inspection invited to Neal and Close's show-room.
