W___nqton, This day. So far £1884 has been received for the contemplated Freo Library. There has been considerable difference of opinion as to whether it should bo confined to a reference library or include novels, &c, for lending purposes. At tho last meeting Sir W. Fitzhorbf. t spoke up manfully for novels as a necessary branch of literature, and it was decided the library should really bo a library in every sense of the word. Tho question of having a reading room was also decided iv the affirmative.
