AGRICULTURAL CONFERENCE.
Dunkdin, This day. The Agricultural Conference is being held. It is lorgely attended, Mr. Bell Wantwood presiding. Tho subjects for discussion are the holding of an annual session, amalgamated Farmers' Union, reduction of railway charges on stock, abolition of the duty on agricultural implements, amendment of tho Rabbit Act, intercolonial Free Trade, the San Francisco service, tax on entries, establishment of distilleries, and veterinary inspection. The following additional subjects to be moved:—As somo buyers of dairy produce have secured all tho shipping in tho cool chambers for butter and cheese to London with a view to buying from fanners at their own price, the industry is now on too lurge a scale to allow suoh hole and corner work, and any shipping company encouraging such a scheme should bo noted that New Zealand produce for export be classed, and branded by the Government Inspector. That the Conference disapprove of land grants to co-operative land companies. That all moneys required for charitablo institutions bo raised by the Government on a tax, and handed over to the various trustees for expenditure.
