SPORTING.
Yesterday being a holiday, tli'j attendance at the Dunedin Exhibition meeting was larger than on Saturday. The racing was very interesting, and the finishes were more close and exciting than on the previous day. Ruby won the Grand Stand Handicap, Blizzard and Golden Crest filling the places (dividend £17 2s Od) ; tho Maiduii Twoyear Old Handicap fell to Emmason, Lady Mab second. Corolla third (dividend £1 15s); Shifnel won the Scurry Stakes (dividend £1 •Is) ; and Mon Loup brought the meeting to a oioiO by winning the Consolation Handicap, Masthead second, Forester third i (dividend £i 35.) The sura of £11,572 was [ put through the muchino, making a total of £35,643 for the three days.
A son of the expatriated Sir Modred distinguished himself at tbe last meeting of tho Coney Island (America) Jockey Clubby winning the Great Eastern Handicap of SOOOdols. Later on he pulled oil' the Holy Handicap at Brooklyn. The youngster—a two-year-old—is named Tournament, and is cut of a mare known as plaything. He is owned by Mr. G. Hearst.

|_PKE PEK3S ASSOCIATION.] Chiustciiueoh, This day. Tho Canterbury Athletic Club held the remainder of their test races to send representatives to Dunedin yesterday evening. A wretchedly cold gale of wind was blowing, which prevented anything like fast times being made. Tho three-mile walk was won by Cox easily, who betit Fisher, in 24mins. Reeves beat Grierson, Lean, and four others in tho half-mile; time, 2mins 0 l-sth sees. Wood beat Leversedge and others in the tbreo mile run ; time, lotnins 2&secs In the long jump Farman's first jump was 19 feet 5 inches. Cuff, in attempts to cover this, fell and sprained his arm badly.
