USE OF THE TOTALISATOR AT TROTTING MEETINGS GRANTED.
WEiiiNQTON, This day. A deputation comprising Messrs Mccc, A-. Brooke, and Rat tray, representing the "'Canterbury Metropolitan Trotting Association, waited on the Colonial Secretary this morning complaining of the restriction placed "on the use of the totalicator at trotting meetings. After bearing the views of the deputation Captain Russell admitted their claims, and at onco granted a permit for the use of the machine at the Christchurch meeting ou Saturday. Captain Russell also gave the deputation to understand that the necessary permit would be ii-su»a to all trotting- clubs affiliated to the Trotting Association, lie would recognise the latter body in the same way as the Metropolitan Jockey Clubs.
