DEFACING BEER STAMPS.

Wellington, This day.

Thirteen publicans were charged at the R.M. Court this morning with drawing beer from the casks without previously having defaced tho stamp. Mr Gully, who appeared for the Collector of Customs, did not suggest the omissions were intended as a fraud on the revenue. He merely wanted to show the publicans they must comply with the Act. Defendants pleaded guilty, but said they intended to deface the stamp when tbe cask was empty. Twenty shillings fine was inflicted in each case.
