There is so little stirring here that it is hardly worth recording , . Tho two last days have been wet and wintry, and in consequence trade has been dull. No one is about, and the river ia higher than it has been for a year or two. Another elioe of tho Native Reserve hae boen oarried away, as I told you a fortnight ago it would be, and tho current ie now running closer to the hill on the south side of the Waipawa than it has done within the memory of the oldest inhabitant. The next coursing match at Ashcott is fixed for the 31st July, when, after the unfinished courses are run off, there will be a match for dogs under twelve months , old, owned by members of the Club. On Thursday night Mr W. Halihurton gave an entei tainment at tho Oddfellows' Hall for the benefit of the Presbyterian School, comprising a largo : number of photographic viewe of Scottish scenery, &c; - shown by means of an excellent magio lantern, and a couple of Bonge were sung by the exhibitor. The attendance was not bo good as tho pains taken and the cause deserved, less than fifty persona being present. ■ ~, The Masonic body here purpose celebratin the anniversary of the Abercorn .Lodge with a Masonic hall on Friday, 9th August. It is so long since we had a deoent ball here that no doubt it will be a success. A case of considerable interest -will come before the K.M. Court next Wednesday, when two of the most noted, men in Waipawa will, ask the R.M. to arbitrate on their differences. Tho plaintiff offered to withdraw the case if the defendant would resign an honorary and honorable position held by him, but the latter declined most emphatically. Two lawyers have been eniraged, and the public are sure to .gather ia force. Sureties of the peace are sought Oα account of tho use of provoking, and insult* ing language. , , . ■: A sitting of the E.lf. Court was heldoa Wednesday ut Orraoudvillo by, G, A. Prceee, Esq., R.M., when the following judgments were given :—Biros v.Kuhtze, claim i>6 12s, for a horse, defendant did not appear, judgment for claim, with costs. 10s, expenseß 20 4d, solicitor (Mr Banfowt) 10s 6d* Property Tax Commissioner v» Allardico, £18 19s; for plaintiff, with £1 costs. Hayward v. S. West, claim £2 12s 6d; foe plaintiff, with 3s coats, and 13s 8d expenses. Giles y. McCarthy, claim £3 4s, wages; for plaintiff, with 3s costs, expenses 12a, 8d» Starkey v. Lycett and Cross, j.s. for £14 15e 9d; £6 Oβ 3d be paid on August Hth, or 14 days' gaol. Mortenseu v. Lycett and Cross, j.s. for £26 4s; to be paid, with cost* £1, on or before 14th September, or 14 days , gaol (Mr Guy appcred in both of these cases). Hobbs v. Hay ward, claim 19s; for plaintiff, Bs, costs 3s, expenses' ss. Towers v. Hari Aratu,, j.s. for £32 ; ndjourned for a month. Gould v. Morteneen, claim £7 12s Id; judgment to be given at Waipawa next Court day. There was a slight earthquake felt here at seven minutes past eleven last night.
