The Turkish Commission to enqnire into the recent trouble? in the Island of Crete lias sent in its official report, which states that the Governor, having declined to accede to tho demands of tho malcontents, the latter refused to pay their rents. Troops wero thon despatched to quell tho disturbances, but owing to the menacing attitude of tlio inhabitant*, they wero withdrawn to avoid conflict. GRANTS TO'THE ROYAL FAMILY. The Parliamentary Committee appointed to ennuire iuto the grants made to tho Royal j Famify consists of eleven Tories, two Unionists, eight Gladstonians, and two of the Irish Nationalist party. It inoludes Messrs W. H. Smith, Goschen, Chamberlain, Movley, Gladstone, Labouchere, Parnell, and Lord Harrington. THE MARKETS. Tho reserve of notes and coin in tho Bank of En-land total £13,760.000 (a docreaso of £024,000 as compared with ast week), the percentage to liabilities has fallen from 41A last week to 39. Gonsols are at 98J. New Zealand four per cents, aro lOo.f. Australian wheat ex-warehouse 395. New Zealand long-berried ex-storo 38s 6d. Clyde No. 1 warrants pig iron havo risen to -tls.
