The eteamer German Emperor, 687 tons, of London, collided daring a fog in the Channel, with the steamer Beresford, 1415 tons, of West Hartlepool. An application will be made for a change of venue to Manchester. THE GEYKA FEAUDS. The judgment in the case of Vagliano Brothers has been affirmed by the full Court. In November last Vagliano Bros., merchants, of old Bond street, London, recovered £70,000 from the Bank of England. Tlic action arose out of the Gcrin frauds in 1887. Geyka, who was a clerk in the bank, forged bills on the firm for the amount mentioned, and was sentenced to ten years' imprisonment for the fraud. PrjQILISM. Joe Thompson, the well-known Australian bookmaker, at present visiting bngland, has written to Slay in, the Australian pugilist, advising him to pay a professional visit to England. Thompson states that he is confident that engagements could be made for Slavin which will yield him 432000 in gate money.
