Inveecahoill, Laet night At a second meeting of tho Past Masters > of the Southland Lodges now engaged in, the preliminary steps -with a view°to ageneral meeting ot Masons to consider the* advisability of a United Grand Lodg<| for New Zealand, held last evening, there Were twelve present, representing all the Constitutions. A resolution approving the desirableness of a United Grand Lodge led. to a debate, several of those taking' part stating that before committing themselves to the proposal absolutely they should like to bo informed as to the nature of theConstitution likely to be offered in lieu of ■ the present one. The general foelinic eeemed to be that it should be on a " liberal , ' bn»i«, and that as far a a possible all the officers both of the Grand and Subordinate Lodges should bo elective. Thtf following amendment was. then proposed:—"! That, in the opinion of: this mietint, Ife i* desirable that a United Grand Lodge of Free Accepted Masons be 'formed in Few Zealand, provided that : 'th»- , English, Irish, and Scotch. Affeir a. debate this amendment was carried, anil its. propoHor appointed to raovo it at tho general' meeting of Masons to bo held a fortnight hence. It was resolved that the proceedingsof tho general meeting should be oponed'by reading the address rec.sntly delivered by P.M. Bro.
