Tho action against Constable Can-, for false imprisonment, has been compromised by tho payment of £2o and costs. [The following are the ciicumstances of the case;— Four months ago tho plaintiff, Benjamin Pepper, saddler, who had taken charge of some property belonging to a drowned traveller for the Singer Sewing Machine Company, was arrested on suspicion of larceny, and afterwards discharged, and ho then brought an action for falso imprisonment against the arresting constable, .claiming £200 damages.]
