CHHisTcnußCn, Thie day. To-day a deputation of unemployed interviewed tho Maj or, statiug they could not got work fince th- ir return from Kaikoura. Tho Mayor replied he would contribute to a private subscription, but he could no nothing eW. The Council had mado arrangements for utono breaking to be done next winter. The men afterwards interviewed tho Hon. Mr G. Fisher, who promised to bring the matter before the Minister for Public Works.
