TOWN EDITION.
We are glad to hoar that tho Postal Department has made a conoesssion to the contractors for the conveyance of mails between Napier and Taupo that will enable a coach to be kept on that road. Tho contract was for a four-horse coach, while tho price paid for the carnage of mails did not cover the cost of keeping a groom at each of the three stables along the lino. The attention of Mr. Ormond, M.H.R., was'drawn to the matter, and through his representations, the Postal authorities have given the contractors tho option of running a two-horso or a four-horso coach, according to the number of passengers they have to carry. * This concession has saved tho mails from being conveyed by pack-horse, and keeps the road opou to tourists.
Our Wellington correspondent wires as follows this afternoon : —" The Commissioner of Customs has decided not to charge duty on pictorial supplements to the English illustrated newspapers, as was proposed."
Tho Rubject advertised for the tent tonight is " The Seven Churches of Revelation." This will deal with tho important divisions of ohurch history from the time of Christ to the present day.
