Murray was brought up ut tho Police Court before three Justices to-day and committed for trial for breaking into the house of Mr. Hunt, laborer, at Eiccarton, and stealing a cap. tout, trouteii, nn<l razor. He was sentenced to throe months' Imnl labor for his first escape from Addington, atjd uiuy moutlis for the sccowl, sentences
to be cumulative. He will be brought before the Kaiapoi Court for the Mandeville Hotel burglary to-morrow, and before the Lyttelton Court on Thursday. He made no defence. Ho siiid that the first time he escaped the warder left the door open after putting his tea into the cell. The second time he had told the gaoler he intended to escape, and did so iust to show that he could. A large crowd assembled in the Courthouse to see the prisoner.
