Wellington, This day. Mr Gordon, Inspector of Minus, h_« fumi.-he.l ii report on dairy appliances at the Melbourne Exhibition. He says tlie Cherry butter worker is adopted iv Victoria, and recommended by the manager oi the Model Dairy. Mr Gordon also says Mr V. '•Sullivan, butter merchant, Launceston, who has been thirty-five years in tho trade, told "him that New'/ealand butter was inferior to Victorian and Tasmania, becauso it is tainted fcv 'the white pine used for the ends of the We mid the appearance is spoiled. He t-hii-k- lv-ilii!" the wood twenty-four hours would obviate the difficulty. Mr Sullivan h-ws they have some difficulty with the wood forke<'/over there, and recommends oak as tho be-t material ho is acquainted with. He al«o objects to tho uso of calico wrappings.
