The weather waaall that could be desired last night for the annual H.B. Ru*by Football Union ball. The far*t thing thut struck a late-comer on entering the hull was the number of ladies sitting down during tho dances, and the, beautiful uc-coralious Mttnre_pre«"onH<»f regret were heard at the absence of th. Wellington men, who would have materially decreased the number of "wall-flowers." Then there were others-mothers and chaperons— whj only attended to watch with loving «J'' S ™ suaeess of their daughters or charges, which helped to give the seat* round tho building ft very animated appearance, while the floor was fairy taxed with dancers. The decorations were very artistic and effective, ruiiroru, flags, palm-trees, fern*, photographs of our iuterproyiucittl iootb-H te_mß?fo., being placed at intervals round the bare walls of tho building, while flag. hang overhead in abundance, llicn there ww a scroll, the work of Mr T. \Y. Bear, bc_ring the words " Welcome to the Wellinrton Team," stretched across the top of the stage underneath that of the Navals scroll tes-iving as to the date of opening of the Naval/ Hall.
