The examination of the district schools, which I noticed in a previous issue, concluded yesterday, having- lasted two days. Mr Hill, tho Inspector conducted it. I have much pleasure in extending, as requested, an invitation to tho parents of tho children, and all the general public who take an interest in matters educational, to visit the school on Friday (to-morrow) afternoon at 2 p.m. Tho copy-books, oxerciso-books, and drawing-books will be open for inspection, and an opportunity given to see tho marks obtained by the candidates for honors. Part singing and military drill will bo given by the pupils hi tho upper school during "the afternoon, and sonic kindergarten games and action songs by tho pupils in the lower department. The military drill will be very extensive and include* the "march past," " sUr formation," "square formatUW* " marching in Square," "preparing t? receive cavalry," military extension exorcises, .fee. A nuvelty it! the way of music, too, as that for the "march past" will be supplied by the school band. I feel sure a visit to the school will bo both interesting and instructive, and repeat my invitation cordially.

Tho Ontario Rink was crowded last night to skate off tbe remaining few hours of its existence, and, judging from appearances, it did not languish out of life, but went merrily enough,
