The continued heavy rains in England nnd on the Continent are creating a good deal of anxiety in agricultural and commercial circles, an it is feared that much dumage will bo caused to the crops. THE ADVENTURESS. Mrs Gordon-Baillio and her husband have been committed for trial. Boil was refused. PARNELLISM AND CRIME. Mv Paruell has announced that he desires a full enquiry into tho whole of the charges made against him by Tho Times. He only stipulates that the commission proposed to be appointed shall bo of a non-political character, and shall make their report within a reasonable time. It is believed that tho following will bo appointed as the commissioners :—Lord Justice Sir Charles Syngu Bowen, Justice Sir Alfred Will?, nnd Lord Young-, of the High Court of Justice for Scotland. It is rumored that disclosures will bo made to show that Tho Times was hoaxed in rofereuoo to tho letters published in that paper on the subject of " Parnellisra and Crime." Mr Reginald Brett alleges that ho is prepared to prove that prior to the publication of tho letters in Tho Times he was interviewed by an ex-member of tho House of Commons, who offered to furnish ovidence which would prove conclusively that Mr Paniell was concerned in many of the horrible outrages which had taken piaco in Ireland. Mr Brett states further that his informant demanded £1000 for the information, but ho declined to give it, not feeling satisfied that tho man's statements were true. Mr Brett asserts his belief that The Times afterwards purchased this man's information, and published it in the now famous letters on " Purnellism and Crime."
