Harbor Board.
Tho Board met at 2 p.m. Present: — Messrs Miller (in the chair), Vautier, R. Harding, Robjohue, Neal, Dolbel, McVay, and the Mayor. COEnESI'ONDKNCB. From Salisbury and Logan, forwarding copies of lease for execution.—Formal consent given by tho Board. From Peter Martin, asking on what terms he would bo allowed to put up a small building near Long Point.—No power to grant what was desired. Hβ could select an unoccupied section, and the Board would put it up for leasing.
From Meauee .Woad Board, granting permission, to cut willows on tho western river ba [i k, —RecL'i ved.
From W. I». White, Napier, offering to supply willows, for planting.—Mr McVay had been informed that the willows being planted by tho B>)Sird wero not out with v knife, but with tomahawks, and were very likely not to thrive—No action. From National Mortgago and Agency Co., stating that tho .Laugston had sailed from London, and tho Ganymedo also from London, each with 500 tons cement for the Board.—Received. From Williams and Kettle, asking for a remission of the pilotage on tho Ashloigh Brook. Tlie master brought in the vessel, and moored her without a pilot. Tho steamer paid pilotage on tho Bth Juno, and the refund was asked for the 23rd June, when eho called a second time—Tho Board could make no concession. From Marino Department, pointing out that tho proposed oignals for vessels leaving tho Iroa Pot were in conflict with tho articles 12 and 19 of the Regulations for preventing collision at sea.—.Referred to the Harbor Master. From Pilot, reporting a depth of 12 feet of water on the bar, also a dopth of 12 feet in the channel between the piers, which ia very narrow and crooked.—Received. knoinkkr's hei'Okt. Contract No. 13 —First action of breakwater, since the gale narrated b}' mo in interim report dated 20th of last month, but little work lias been done on the breakwater. One of tho monoliths that had subsided has been made up, and tho wavebreaker on south side has been extended. The contractor is proceeding with tho repairs to hopper barge. New crane.—Mr Anderson has forwardod
the new crane, and it is now in course of erection.
Dredging.—Tho Prientman's dredge has been engaged in the Irou Pot. The discharging pier for fiilt bun been completed. Aa regards tho proposition for dredging and reclaiming by contract, I consider it fwmblo, herewith attached is a plan showing three sections of lagoon available for the purpose, with tho quantities of filling required on each section ; tenders could be called for filling ono or other of these flections at per oubityurd, the Board supplying dredger, punto, and rails. Whare-Omaranui Lagoon Reclamation.—Final settlemei.te for work done on contract No. '2 are being made. Contract No. 3is nearly completed. Tho banks ou No. 1 contract have been sown in grass. Tho other banks are being similarly treated, and willows are being planted along tho river where required. Fencing.—A. contract for fencing the western portion of tho Whare-Omaranui lagoon has been accepted and the work has been begun. John Goodiiall, Engineer Napior Harbor Board. Engineer authorised to prepare specifications for reclamation for next meeting of the Board. WJCLAMATION COJIMITTEK's ItKFORT.

G. H. Swan, Chairman. Adopted. DUKDOI.W COMMITTEE'S KEt'OET. Your committee after duly considering the subject referred to them, recommend that tho Engineer prepare plans of sites for reclamation by dredging, also a specification for dredging whore required, and reclaiming the sites with the spoil, ho that tenders may be invited for carrying on the work for a period of two years. Your Committee have instructed the Engineer to obtain further information in reference to the system of dredging with cilt pumps. G. 11. Swan, Chairman. —Adopted. ACCOUNTS Vouchers to the amount of£Slß Sβ 7d on general account, £115S 'Jβ Ud, on loan account, contractors deposit account £31 2a, total of £20.31 0s Gd, were passed for payment. Tho Board then adjourned.
