Somk few weeks ago, we stated that two Kcntleiron, driving towards Napier on the Risslngton road, had a narrow escapo from being precipitated down a cutting, and we warned tho County Council of the risk it ran in riot causing a panel of. fencing to bo erected at tho point where the new road branched off from tho old thoroughfare. !At an expeutjo of a few shillings all danger to travellers could have been avoided. ! However, the Council did nothing; and j now we learn that, last Thursday night, as Mr Dennett and Mr Woods were driving along that road they were suddenly hurled •down tho precipice. The buggy was smashed to pieces, Mr "Woods has been severely injured, but Mr Doimott escaped with some bruises. Mr Dennett, we hear, intends to sue the Council,' and we trust he will do so. It is altogether too bad that a death-trap should have been allowed to remain on a road for so long a timo.
