Sydney, May 28. The victim of tlio outrage in the police cell is rccovciiug, but he is ruined for life. BUNNY. The rabbit commissioners have reached Silverton, Avhero experiments have been made with tho disease discovered by Drs. Butcher and Ellis. The Commissioners were greatly impressed with the effectiveness of the disease as a rabbit destroying agent.

THE MINING FRAUD
At a meeting of the Muritoto Mining Company to-day tho syndicate declined to accept any recoupment for their outlay. The money will be returned to the shuioholders to-morrow.

The Government have received intimation from tJie Indian Government that 900 liorsos are rotiuircd for India at an average price of _53, that sum to include tho cost of delivery in India.
ANTI-CHINESE CONFERENCE. Arrangements aro now nearly completed far holding a conference on tho Chinese difficulty about tho middle of June. The uetual date of the meeting is not yet definitely fixed, as it is not known avliuu tho Now Zealand delegate will arrive.
