The cup match between the County and Pirates Football Clubs was played on the Rw-toatioii Ground on Saturday Ihodeleut 3 Z former by the Harriers onjfctorig \V Wvnvard ; halves, Smiler and TWar- %- brick; forwards, Cuthbort, Hira, Isokou Karawria, Stewart, Maynard, Alfred and Arthur Warbriek, and G. Wynyard. Pirates — Full-back, LcQuesno; threequarters, McKay, W. Robinson nnd GunBinpham; halves, Ue-npsoy ami Froeman, forwards, Morrison, Fleming Moore, HeSherry, Swan, Ross, Duwsou, Corbett, and Cook. Result:— . Wynyard kicked Off towards the town goal, and LeQuesuo Junted to centre touch Swan led a rush, Tmd LeQuesuo punted to Tahu, who rotuined to centre touch. W. Warbriek did SS pawed to W. Warbnok kicked to L.Quesne, who marked, and sent the bull down the field. Some splendid was indulged in by the County IS who were, however, repeatedly SSed by the Pirates. was splendid, and LeQuesne was also very difficult to pass. No further score was made, and the game ended as above. The County team were somewhat surprised at tho sturdy manner in which the Pirates fought their battle, and instead of the winners securing an easy victory, they had to play nil they knew. It was a fino exhibition of football, and although beaten, the Pirates are worthy of every praise for their excellent play, foremost among whom were McKay, LeQuesne, Dempsey, Morrison, Swan, and Freoman. The County now lead for the cup with six points, the Pirates coming next with five points.
